I believe it works. One of my coworkers at the current job makes butter as a hobby. We were given some for Christmas – it was in sealed canning jars, and quite tasty. I would advise the smallest jars you can use – homemade butter does go off faster than the commercial stuff, and we had to transfer so much of ours into small containers and freeze it, as we could not eat all the butter fast enough. On the plus side, you can flavor it. Garlic Parmesan is AMAZING on pasta.
Well, if I was canning, I’d probably be canning the storebought stuff. No cows! 🙂
The coworker in question does not have his own cows, but does locally source some milk, I think. He likes the process of making butter. Whatever you choose, I definitely advise the smallest canning jars you can find!
