ALL THE POCKETS! I think you are way ahead of my mad satchel for pocket ambitions. That one had four open & one hidden exterior pockets, and seven open & one hidden interior pockets, the interior ones being in two tiers. None of them had anything as fancy as pleats. You’re doing a messenger-style bag?
Hidden? *Curious* Messenger-style, because it turns out that (albeit not with so many pockets), those are period ;-D 😀
Not *that* hidden. Smaller patch pockets inside other pockets, placed sideways toward the bottom, so that even casually turning the bag upside down and shaking it wouldn’t reliably dislodge things. They were quite findable if you felt for them, but there were a lot of pockets to check, and it was hard to look into some of them. If you don’t have enough pockets yet, you could put some on the inside of the bag flap! I’d want to put fastenings on those. 🙂
Ooh, hidden pockets! I could put on /inside/ the flap, maybe, though I was trying to avoid modern fastenings where they would show to a cursory look. But /hidden/ pockets…. (what would I hide?) (ooh, cc, case, license), could easily go inside the big pockets.

I might be a bad influence?
Maybe a little bit! The secret pockets are a great idea. 😀
