For the first three issues of Alder by Post, I riffed off of the theme of the month or a theme that came up within the writing.

But going into the next Alder by Post, I realize that the short and strange nature of the March Giraffe Call leaves me bereft of ideas.

Anything, any setting, any anything you’d like to see? Any ideas for making it thematic? 😀

I have finished printing Alder by Post Issue Three! I will be mailing these out starting tomorrow afternoon.

I still have some available from both Issue One and Issue Two, and am willing to offer a discount if you buy all three. 🙂

Issue One’s story is an Aunt Family Story take-off from the Gifts Giraffe Call Prompt on Glitter
Issue Two’s story is from Dragons Next Door, a bit of background on pixies & Tiny Folk.
Issue Three story is a setting-less piece called The Bramble Wife.

All Three are printed in limited-edition runs of 16 each.

If you donated $7.50 or more to the February Giraffe Call, or $50 or more in the last year, you may have one for the asking.
Otherwise, to cover printing & postage, each issue is $2 in-US, $2.50 outside (Or $3.50/$4.50 for two issues, $5.00/$6.00 for three).

* I am taking subscriptions for Alder by Post, as I reached the required amount of interest. A subscription is $20 for a year w/in the US, $25 outside the US.

* I still have several copies of the limited edition First Issue of Alder by Post, featuring a story from the Aunt Family ‘verse. If you donated to the January December Giraffe Call, all you have to do is ask. If not, it’s $2 US, $2.50 non-US.

I have gone ahead and written and printed Issue One. This will be a limited edition, only 16 copies being printed.

I mailed 6 copies:
3 to donors
1 to my parents, who aren’t allowed to donate (they give us lots of help & money already)
1 to someone who said she would donate
and
1 to someone who offered art in lieu of a donation

This has cost me in postage $3.70, including 2 stamps I have yet to use. Materials were on-hand, and time was about 2-3 hours of time, some of that more entertainment than work.

It has netted me a promise of a donation and an art. 🙂 I’d say I’m on the positive side so far.

I have, thanks to eseme‘s brilliant idea, the text and layout for a postcard-sized story, based off one of wyld_dandelyon‘s prompts. The story is safe-for-all-ages, as is the layout.

If you donated $5 or more to the December Giraffe Call, and are interested, I will mail you a mini-story postcard: Alder-by-Post Issue One. (or, if you’d rather and aren’t as enamored of snail mail as I am, a pdf).

If there is interest beyond this, I would open up Alder-by-Post to subscriptions and write one per call, $2/card ($2.50 non-US, sorry, postage!), $20/year, or $1/pdf, $10/year.

Edited to add: If I get interest of 25 or more people, I will have these professionally printed (I am not really expecting this. 😉
