Camp Nano – the End!

The Last Line of my Camp Nano – “That was yours? Pretty freaking creepy.”

I got through, let’s see: two almost-stories of Episodes, 25,788 words. And in Addergoole, 5 chapters and one interlude, including two double-length Hell Night Chapters – 14,921 words.

My Camp Nano total on my own numbers was 40,079 – on the validation, it was 100 words more. I’ll take it!

This was not a particularly good Nano for me. I didn’t ~finish~ anything, I outlined only passably, and I lost interest in my first project halfway through. I had a bunch of bad days and wrote far less regularly than I wanted to.

But! I got through it, I did a couple semi-marathon days, thanks in large part to @nanowordsprints on twitter, and I finished without modifying my goal!

Total April Word Count: 40,584 words.

On to May!

Camp Nano – Last Day!

First Line of Yesterday:

 “Let me go!”  She flailed and kicked, but she might as well have been fighting a statue.  The arms weren’t moving.

Last Line of Yesterday:

“The lot of us are going to have a little conversation.  Come now, Kailani, Conrad.  What was that all about?”

I wrote 1,362 words yesterday, bringing my total to 38,920.  Just need to write 1,080 words today and I’m donnnne!

(With Camp Nano; def. not done with the project)

Camp Nano – Almost There

First Line of Yesterday:

 <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:107%;
font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:
Calibri;mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;
mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;
mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA”>“Emrys?”  She called out softly to him, hearing as she did so an uncertainty in her voice that she hadn’t put there on purpose.

Last Line of Yesterday:

"I am not…" Arms like iron cords wrapped around her, one around her throat, the other around her waist, pulling her off the ground and bending her backwards.

2,549 words yesterday, bringing the total to 37,558.  Just 2,462 to go!!

And I’m already figuring out my story for Camp Nano June…

Camp Nano – Finally back on traack

Yay, I’ve been lax about these posts.

So, First Line since the last time I posted was:
 <span style="font-size:11.0pt;line-height:107%;
font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-fareast-font-family:
Calibri;mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;
mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;
mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA”>“Good.”  The doctor dispensed a handful of pills into a bottle.

Last line of last night:

Real life doesn’t work that way. But she was no longer sure that this was real life.

I wrote 3084 words yesterday, 0 words Saturday, 3,644 words Friday, and 627 words Thursday.

I am now at a total of 35,009 words –  just under 5K to go, which is an average of 1,664 words for today, tomorrow, and Wednesday.  I can totally do this!

Camp Nano April 2014 – Back on the Horse

 So, I decided to give in to my urge and start on Addergoole: Book Two, because Episodes just wasn’t working.

First line of yesterday:

Previously in Addergoole:

The lift sank slowly into the barn floor, carrying the SUV with it.

Last line of Yesterday:

“I, ah, I’m glad you approve.”  Were adults supposed to act like this?

1866 words written, not up to need-to-catch-up goal but so much better than I’d been doing.
Bring me up to 27,654, for a daily average of 1202 (I could weight that for skip days if I wanted)

To get to 40K by the end of the month, I need to write an average of 1764 words a day, or 2469 words/weekday.

Here goes~

#campnanowrimo – burnout and options

I’m just not feeling Episodes, the  camp nano project I’ve been working on – I mean, I was having fun with it, I think I’ll have fun with it again, but right now? No.  Not at all.

Options include:

* Keep trucking on it. (ick)
* Write "and other projects" and count all wordcount in April toward my 40K goal (Seems like cheating)
* call it a split month, as I’ve done before, and do 15K words on Addergoole: Book two complete rewrite (this is the one I’m leaning towards).

Thoughts?

Camp Nano April 2014 – First and Last Words of yesterday & Wordcount

First Line:
“Uh.” Ted swallowed again. “Okay, hold on before you do anything else. I need to go get the bigger gun.”

Last Line:
[Ted] had already learned to count down with his hands for Finder. His fingers tagged one, two, and on three they lifted the lid.

Up to 22235 words – I wrote 1834 words yesterday (goal 21,818).

Yay!

Camp Nano April 2014 – First and Last Words of yesterday & Wordcount

First Line of Yesterday:

It was doing its best to look dignified. It was, of course, entirely failing. Nobody could look dignified on their butt in the mutt. mud.

Last line of yesterday:

Holly repeated the last signs – huge tiger. [Mentor] was glad that Ted was swallowing down obvious nerves – it distracted from his own probably-visible nerves.

I wrote 1,847 words yesterday, bringing my total to 20,401 words!

Camp Nano April 2014 – First and Last Words of Friday & Wordcount

I wrote absolutely nothing this weekend.

That’s okay, that’s built into the plan. I went shopping with my mother (all the blue shirts!), went to LARP in another city, went shopping with my husband (I sat on almost every couch for sale in Ithaca), and then went out to dinner with said husband.

So, Friday’s first words:
“We started digging for the foundation right here.”

And Friday’s last words:
When a werewolf was stuck mid-way, or a shapeshifted cat, it looked dangerous and threatening. Sadly for their guest, a shapeshifting bird – budgie – just looked ridiculous.

Anyone know the style guide for shapeshifting/ed/er?

up to 17255 words total, 2460 Friday (par: 16363). Whee!

Camp Nano April 2014 – First and Last Words of yesterday & Wordcount

First Line Of Yesterday:
[Sônia] laughed. “You’re not as old as you are, either. I’ll see you in the morning, sir.”

Last Line of Yesterday:
“Women are naturally built to maneuver while carrying large loads.”

“That’s a load, all right.” [Ted] dumped the bags on the bed. “Come on, ladies, get your stuff before I end up wearing it all.”

I wrote 2046 words yesterday, bringing my total to 14,795 (goal: 14545). Whee!

(I’m finally at the point where, counting today as 0 words, the camp Nano approximater still says:
At This Rate You Will Finish On
April 30, 2014)
