Science! Landing Page

Why haven’t mad scientists taken over the world? Either they already have, and we just don’t notice, or they’re too dysfunctional to take over much of anything.

This setting posits a little bit of both.

Commissions and other Support for the Thorne-Author

(see what I did there?)

Commissions are always available at the low, low rate of 2¢/word, with a minimum commission of $4/200 words.
$20 commissions and higher will be discounted to $5/300 words or 5/3¢ a word. Just because I always wanted to charge in fractions.
For commissions over $35/2100 words, all words over that limit will be charged at a penny a word.

To commission a story, a piece of demifiction, or any other work of creative writing (even poems, I can do poems), sent me an email at thornealder/gmail, leave a comment on this post, or sent me a PM on Dreamwidth or Livejournal.

I reserve the right to turn down any commission, but will complete any commission I accept.

I take payments by Paypal (also thornealder/gmail), by paying-for-my-Dreamwidth-time, or other methods by negotiation.

I will begin work on your piece as soon as I receive payment. Commissioned works will be posted on my blog, here, when completed.

Don’t want a commission, but want to say “thanks?”

Cool! I always appreciate tips, and they help to unlock extras – more posts on the serials, for instance.

There’s Paypal, of course, but there’s also Patreon: subscribe at any level from $1 to $50/month and open up incentive levels to get even more fiction!

And in conclusion, this is a conclusion.

Giraffe Call Landing Page

What is a Giraffe Call?
Once a month, on the second Saturday after the first Tuesday of the month, Updated: once in a while, about 1-2 times/year, I open up a post calling for prompts on a monthly theme.

Why is it a “Giraffe Call?”
I was saving up for some pretty awesome giraffe-print carpet for the bedroom of Our New House. 🙂 Thus Giraffe. (I have a lot more renovations to go after the carpet! Currently up is my attic.)

What do you do on a Giraffe Call?
I will write at least one microfic (around 150-400 words) for everyone who prompts.

I not only accept but welcome and encourage prompts without donation; the more prompts, the better! It makes a fuller, more exciting Call!

But Wait, There’s More
Donation incentives vary by month, but the short version is: as the Call reaches total-dollars-donated levels, the entire call gets more things – a longer short story, writing to more prompts by everyone, or to all the prompts, a podcast of a story, even, if I reach my top goal for the call, an e-book.

In addition, there are perks for new donors, new commenters/prompters, and linking back to the call. Check each individual call for their perks.

What can I prompt?
Anything at all, as long as it’s somehow related to the theme.  However, I do not write fanfiction for prompt calls.

If you want to prompt something related to one of my extant settings, that’s cool; if you want to prompt something completely new, that’s also cool. Photo prompts, art prompts, are awesome; I’ll take auditory prompts too, though I’ve never tried writing to those.

If I find I really can’t work with your prompt (I have trouble with zombies, for instance), I’ll ask you to prompt again.

Landing Page: Doomsday Academy

A sub-setting of Addergoole and the Fae Apoc, Doomsday Academy is what happens when a fae graduate of Addergoole decided to build something better.

It features Addergoole characters from two generations as professors, and an all-new cast of students. The school experience runs from ten years old to 18, covering a wide swath of education not often found in the post-apoc world.

And post-apoc it is. Set approx. forty years after the titular Faerie Apocalypse (“the Disaster” “the Collapse”), the world is a far different place. Monsters still roam the blasted countryside, and cities are mostly destroyed shells. The human/fae population are just beginning to move past bare survival. Electricity, running water, telephones – these things exist, but mostly in sheltered enclaves.
