Note to self (re. planning wordcount)

Having a 10,000-word project (novella), a 6,000-word project (Edally), and a 4,000-word project (Ghost) in a month and a 25K goal for the month only works if you have less than 5K additional work.

Patreon is approx. 2.5K now.

There’s that commission you just finished, that was ~3K this month.

Then there’s the 6K submission story…

Math is one’s friend.

(also, I need to leave at least 1.5K for fun projects, and since I really want my “fun” to run about 10-20% of my wordcount, I need to allow for that, too. That means for a 25000 work-wordcount goal, I need to write ~27,700-31,250 words).

Conclusion: I need to shrink my project goals per month. Or increase my wordcount by 10-25%.

Wordcount Contemplations

I’ve been working on beating 2013’s wordcount per month in 2014.

January’s goal was to beat 38,615 – I wrote 48,724.
February’s goal was to beat 28,822 – I’ve written 33,400 as of this post.

March might be harder.
To beat March, I need to write more than 58,837 words.

Of course, to still be beating 2013 at the end of March, I only need to write more than 44,150 words. That’s a little more do-able.

In the MEANTIME, March is an odd-numbered month, which means it’s Pirate Nano time again.

This month, the Nano goal is “finish Addergoole: book One” (about 5000 words) and then plow through a lot of Rin & Girey – Into Lannamer, for a total of 25,00 words, with an additional “at least 250 other words/weekday” on obligations & submissions

Wordcount 2011 by the nubers

I was asked about my 2011 wordcount.

Then I discovered I only had my numbers back through May, so this is my wordcount May through December.

Total – 330,890 words
“Non-Addergoole” – 138,791 words (this may be low)
Cali Novel – 21,728 words
Words for money/money making – 42,139 words
Stranded novel – this is listed as 48,170. However, I made 50K
Ag Bonus stories (incomplete) – 2,267 words
